What is safer? 64 coronary angiography or CT scan?
Hello, doctors. My mom has a rheumatic heart disease and you need two of its valves replacement (aortic + mitral). However, your surgeon will either forced to do coronary angiography or CT 64 scan to get a rough idea of their vascular status. Apart from its valve problem, my mom is very health. She has very healthy eating and lifestyle habits, loves the outdoors, exercise and long daily household tasks … and has short white hair (which is already 61 years old), my grandparents are in their 80s and not either coronary artery disease. …. All this suggests that my mom has a much lower risk of developing coronary heart disease. So we have the lowest risk option. I heard that the contrast agent can cause kidney failure. And both agents need treatment contrast. So I wonder who does less damage to patients? Coronary angiography or CT scan 64? Thank you.
The contrast material could damage the kidneys (particularly in patients with diabetes).
