Treatment of hypertension

In most cases, high blood pressure is usually present long before its complications and shows some of their symptoms. In order to treat high blood pressure is important to detect in its early stage before they can do serious damage to critical organs in the body. In addition, increasing public awareness and the promotion of some screening programs that are directed towards the detection of hypertension in its early stages are some of the keys leading to success in the treatment of hypertension. The essence of treatment of high blood pressure in its earliest stage can significantly reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack and even kidney failure. On the other hand, lifestyle changes in patients pre-hypertension are advised and not yet well demonstrated that treatment by medication are beneficial for patients with pre-hypertension.

In treatment of high blood pressure, is important to note the blood pressure reading. Blood pressure is consistently greater than 140/90 mm Hg, the treatments consist of changes in style of life with adequate medication. However, for cases where the diastolic pressure remains at a maximum level is usually less than 90 mm Hg, and consistently remains above 85 mm Hg, a more aggressive treatment may be recommended. In addition, there are cases where the limit of diastolic pressure are associated with damage target organ, such problems usually associated with systolic hypertension and some factors that may have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease especially in patients who are 65 or over who are smokers and have hyperlipidemia and diabetes. Regardless of the stage of hypertension, any patient can begin with any of several classes of drugs, except, of course, the alpha-blocking drugs. The reason for this is that alpha-blockers are generally used only in combination with other anti-hypertensive drugs and only in certain medical situations.

There are some situations where certain classes of antihypertensive drugs are preferable in comparison with others as the first choice of medications. An example is the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) that are inhibitors or blocking receptor blocker (ARB) drugs are among the first drugs prescribed especially for patients with heart failure, chronic renal failure for diabetics and for patients with weak heart muscles.

On the other hand, some patients with hypertension often have coexisting medical conditions in which case a particular class of antihypertensive medication or a combination of whom may be elected as the first approximation treatment of hypertension. The reason behind this is to control hypertension while healing coexisting medical disease.

Help with essay on congestive heart failure?

I need to write a paper on the following. Does anyone know of any good websites with good information:

“Your mother’s elderly aunt has congestive heart failure. Your mother asks you what does this mean? Explain in detail what has happened to the cardiovascular system, the normal compensations which occur but make the situation wore and value of medications and therapies prescribed by the physician in charge.

What does "wore" mean in this context?

Hypertension Medications

How do you know if you have hypertension, and what you can do to control it?

Hypertension, or high blood pressure now affects one in three women and two in every five men - but 90 percent of people who suffer from hypertension still do not know what it is. Despite the millions pounds of research that has taken to investigate hypertension, its causes are still unclear in most cases - a fact that seems pretty scary, taking note that people with high blood pressure have a much higher risk of developing heart disease or stroke. So how do you know if you have hypertension - And, if so, what steps can be taken to control it?

The only real way to identify high blood pressure and whether you have hypertension is to visit your doctor or nurse and blood pressure measurement. Most doctors advise that the average person has their blood pressure at least once every five years. In most cases a good blood pressure reading is said to be somewhere around 120/80.

However, it is important to remember if your blood pressure checked and read he seems a little low or high, it may not necessarily be because you have hypertension: in fact, your blood pressure increases if you are worried or stressed, as can be lessened if feeling especially relaxed.

Many people these days buy their own blood pressure monitor so that they can make a series of readings to your GP who can then decide whether the readings are added to someone who has hypertension. If you do this, it is best to vary the circumstances in which you take action, for example, take some when you relax in front of the television and others when you are stressed or have been exercise. When the physician analyzes these readings or she will have a much more accurate picture of what your blood pressure does in his normal life.

If they give you high blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), make sure tell your pharmacist before buying any OTC medicine for coughs or colds. Some medications are incompatible with medicine that is designed to reduce blood pressure, but your pharmacist should usually be able to advise you on which remedies are safe to eat. It is also possible that you may have doubts about taking medication for hypertension and if this is the case, you should discuss your concerns with your doctor.

However, making changes in your lifestyle could mean that you can avoid the need to take medication for high blood pressure altogether. For example, regular exercise or making the effort to keep your weight down to its optimum level could eliminate the need for you to take tablets to reduce your blood pressure. Furthermore, the reduction of consumption of salt to six grams a day, maintaining a healthy diet and trying to reduce your stress levels may also have significant benefits.

Even if you take these measures, the doctor may decide that the only way to completely control your blood pressure is for you to take the medication. This does not mean have failed because people still very healthy lifestyles can have hypertension since it is usually an inherited condition and continuing these measures healthy can reduce the number of hypertension pills you have to take to properly control the disease.
